On Monday, Dec. 5, world-famous dog trainer Cesar Millan and a film crew from National Geographic's Nat Geo WILD cable channel spent the day at Morven Park. Scouts for Millan's show, "Dog Whisperer," were attracted by Morven Park's rolling hills and open spaces, a perfect setting for a commercial promoting the show's move to the newest National Geographic channel. The Salvation Army is conducting a "Tools for Schools" school supply drive to provide local elementary and middle school students in need with the supplies they will need to be successful in the coming school year.Some of the supplies needed are: book bags; wide-lined, college-rule, spiral and composition notebooks; book organizers; pencils/pens/markers/crayons; loose leaf binders; pocket folders, scissors [blunt], glue sticks and glue; dictionaries and thesaurus; rulers; and calculators.

Morven Park will re-create Civil War camp life during the winter of 1861/1862. At this time members of the 17th Mississippi Regiment, took up residence in the woods at Morven Park just months after their fight at the nearby battle at Ball’s Bluff. The event will feature firing demonstrations, drilling, camp cooking, and portrayals of everyday camp life. The Loudoun Education Foundation is hosting a special reception honoring Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards, on the release of his new book, The Business of Happiness: 6 Secrets to Extraordinary Success in Life and Work. KidzArt Summer Camps give kids a creative outlet to work with a variety of artistic mediums and styles. Elementary students can register for camp on our website, www.kidzartva.com.
